Time to say goodbye

2013 July 10

Lexie's funeral took place on a warm sunny day in July 2013. We wanted to give her a send off fit for a princess. She travelled the 11 miles to church in a white carriage pulled by four horses with pink plumes. Her tiny coffin was pink, decorated with butterflies and balloons. She had an abundance of pink flowers, from friends and wellwishers. During the funeral we had a slideshow of pictures of Lexie so she could watch proceedings in style. She entered Church to the haunting notes of Katherine Jenkins Time to Say goodbye, and at the end of the service we played Louis Armstrongs What a Wonderful World because despite her disabilities Lexie loved life and to her it was a wonderful world she lived in. We were honoured that Jo from Bluebell Wood did a reading and spoke beautifully about Lexie, and ginny Matthew a support worker from deaf/blind charity Sense also did a reading. It was a perfect day - a send off fit for a princess!!!
